Throughout first and second year we have completed various technical projects to help us develop our skills and any areas which need improvement or require a more in depth understanding.

During first year we had rotations on pattern cutting, basic construction and a general introduction to technical. These were primarily to ensure that everyone on the course had the same skills needed for the course. In second year these skills were improved and explored in further detail. I have learnt how to digitise, alter and grade patterns using Lectra Modaris, manually check patterns and change pieces in order pattern cut lace and embroidery fabrics. I have learnt about manual pattern grading and creating a pattern from a set of critical measurements, the differences between plus and core size bras, how sports bras work and the techology behind them and how body shape affects the fit of a bra and that different breast roots require a different wire to name but a few.
